The challenge

Our team explored how to support people with dementia in getting dressed more independently. The concept allows a complete outfit to be prepared in advance, either by the person themselves or together with a caregiver.

Exploring the form

I sketched different ways to organise a complete outfit and make clothing easier to remove. These included approaches using magnets, clamps and different hanger arrangements. Feedback helped us develop a clearer sequence and introduce light as a guide.

Guiding the dressing sequence

In the concept, pressing Start illuminates the first hanger. Removing a garment activates the next light, guiding the user through the outfit. Flexible hangers support removing upper-body clothing, while an adjustable stand allows the product to be used independently of a wardrobe rail.

The outcome

I created the final digital product design as a blueprint for the physical prototype. I also illustrated usage scenarios and designed the concept poster, making the intended interaction and product features easier to understand.
